Letter
One
Some of you, who read this
letter, know me as Wallace F. Ingram — after the manner of the flesh — others do
not know me at all. Yet, it is because of this — the weakness of the flesh — I
write this letter. For in the letters
that follow, there is a
change and the
gulf is too
great for many. a There
is a name, (the flesh cannot understand) for I became a b living letter, as all the elect of God do.
I was reminded by the Word that when he was ready to depart he said, c "I have
many things to say, but you cannot bear to hear them now. However when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will
guide you into all truth: for he
shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he
speak: and he will show you things to come." So I thought it good to go back and write
this letter, in the hope that those who love and seek truth will rejoice in
this salute.
I have been coming to the revelations of God from the time that I began
to hunger and thirst for the truth. This to me is the normal thing for the
people of God. It is not something we do on our own, as though we had the power
to understand these things alone. Rather, it is the gift and power of God. From
the beginning I believed the Word, and never staggered or stumbled at his
promises. Starting in John, where the Word states, d “All things that
the Father has are mine and the Spirit of truth will show these things to you.”
For, he speaks in Isaiah, e “behold, I create new
heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into
mind. But you be glad and rejoice forever in that which I create: for,
behold, I create
In John it is written, o “this is ETERNAL LIFE that they might know you the only
true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” How can he be known
or understood unless we have the same mind, have the same knowledge?
That is why the Spirit is given — p
to teach. Therefore, I confirm what Paul wrote to the Ephesians, q “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of
him. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what
is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance
in the saints. And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us‑ward
who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.”
In Isaiah, it is written, r “Whom shall he teach
knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? They that are weaned
from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept
upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a
little.” This can fall either way.
It can be for a snare to them that love imagery, lies and the world. For the
savior said of them, s “Father, I thank
you for hiding these things from the wise and prudent (in their own
eyes), and revealing them to little children,”.
To the children — taught by God — t
it is rest, more so it is the beginning of the kingdom of God.
u Being taught by God brings about correct thinking in a new mind. It
does away with presumption and error. By this reproof and correction peace
comes into existence where it did not exist before. Seeing and receiving the
truth is a joy for righteousness that exists every time it
regenerates. Where it did not exist before, v
peace, joy and righteousness now exist. That is the Kingdom of God. It
came into existence because we invoked the w
laws of grace by seeking, asking and receiving. When we
correctly receive, x what God has
prepared to give us, then we have y judged
those things with mercy and thereby obtain mercy. By this
we then z bless
him, for he then becomes the greatest giver of all. As it is written:
a “It
is more blessed to give than to receive.” Then when we in turn give what we have received of him, then we too
become the blessed. The blessedness is: that knowledge, that peace,
that joy and righteousness exist only to them that have received
it. Our father has so created it this way; it can never be taken by force.
We are b born of the Spirit
by the washing of the Word. For me it was a great c
hunger and thirst. I wanted to d die
to gain Christ, and I did. I found I had to let go of everything,
beginning with my own understanding; for it is written: e “Trust in the LORD with all
your heart; and lean not on your own understanding.” But why should
I, lean on my own understanding? When it is written: f they shall all be taught of me says God. The Word
gave me a thought: I don't know anything as I ought to — and you know
that. Give me a love for truth that nothing can quench, not truth as men
know truth, but as you know truth. And give me a hunger, thirst and a press for
righteousness ¾ the righteousness
that comes from you. After a long time, and many doctrines of
men, I began to g seek
the kingdom of God and his righteousness — then I began to be taught of God.
I considered that since I had never seen anything that the Spirit was
ready to show, then I didn't have the slightest notion of what it was.
Therefore, all my presumptions were images. I needed to be separated
from them and it left me empty! I wanted to reach for something and nothing was
there. I placed all my trust and confidence in the Spirit and
walked by the faith that began to be generated in me by the Word. It was and
is from this h measure of
faith that the revelations of God come. It is not faith for fleshly
things of this world. It is faith that comes from the Word of i spiritual things. The things that the
spirit teaches on: precept upon precept. The line is the plumb line of the revealed
righteousness of God.
The great mistake many have made is they
think they have something, but what is it that they see? Consider this, when
Philip asked to see the father, Jesus answered him, j “Have I been so long
time with you, and yet have you not known me, Philip? He that has seen me has
seen the Father; so how is it that you say, show us the Father?” If then Philip didn't see the Father, then he
didn't see the Son. Then whom did he see? He saw what the flesh always
sees: Jesus Christ in the flesh. That is a thing that comes to an end
for all who die to this world. The apostle Paul stated it this way in his
letter to the Corinthians, k “Wherefore henceforth know
we not anyone after the flesh: yes, though we have known Christ after
the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. For we are new creatures.”
You see there is a death, for says he, l “I die daily.” For a long time I did not know
about this death, nor did I understand it. I knew the Word as Philip knew him ¾ in the flesh.
Of m death our Savior
said it is necessary: for n
birth, to o regenerate and
to p wage war. How can we
fight a war against spiritual powers of darkness unless we are spirit? A war
against spirits cannot be waged from the flesh;
we would be out of our realm. Moreover to be q spiritually minded in all things, is to understand,
appreciate and partake with our father, our people, all things
in r our
inheritance.
I hope and believe that you who truly want eternal life will find
it s(or
rather be chosen of Christ), and I will be your friend everlasting. By the
Word, be of good cheer, be believing and full of charity
.
Amen
Wallace
Ingram.
